The Scheduler Fundraiser was a success!

Early in 2023 an amazing woman and flight attendant (thank you D'Air Hostess!) came up with the idea to start a fundraiser to show our appreciation to the SWA crew schedulers. SWA had a horribly embarrassing and epically expensive system implosion over Christmas of 2022. The schedulers who work for SWA usually take it on the chin when aircrew are stuck on the road when these occurrences happen. 

The people who are SWFF understand that schedulers are just the messenger and are doing their jobs when directed. They sometimes have the undesirable job of delivering bad news to crews, whether it be a change to their trip or to hand out a JA (junior assign) to crews who thought they were previously heading home. It is our intent to let this group of fellow employees know that they are LUV'd by those of us who see the larger picture.

It is important to note that this fundraiser reached more than just the pilots and flight attendants who donated, rather it was employees from multiple workgroups as well as their family and friends! While many view recent events at SWA as the system trying to break apart the unity between workgroups, SWFF has worked tirelessly to maintain the true heart of what Herb Kelleher built. SW Freedom Flyers is the ONLY Freedom Flyer group amongst the airlines that originally included all workgroups inside the corporation because we truly believe in the family that Herb built.

Together we exceeded our goal of $6500 and were able to purchase 250 $25 gift cards from Chik-Fil-A to show our support for the hard working schedulers in the NOC. While we'd like to show our appreciation to other workgroups like the rampers, but the scope of such a project was too large. Nonetheless we appreciate all the workgroups who worked through the worst meltdown SWA has ever encountered. 

On February 15, 2023, these gift cards will be hand delivered by a pilot and flight attendant liaison to the NOC!
